In Rhodes v. Wells Fargo Bank, Clay Gatens secured in excess of a $26M settlement to benefit a certified class of over four thousand homeowners that were locked out of their homes by Wells Fargo Bank prior to completion of a foreclosure.
In Jordan v. Nationstar Mortgage, LLC, Clay Gatens prevailed in the Washington State Supreme Court on behalf of a certified class of over 3,600 Washington homeowners. The Washington Supreme Court held that lenders are prohibited form changing locks on a borrower’s property prior to completion of foreclosure. Ultimately, Clay Gatens was able to achieve a settlement of $17M for the benefit of the certified class.
In Lair v. Outerwall, Inc., Clay Gatens represented a class of consumers in a class action lawsuit involving gift cards issued at Coinstar kiosks in Washington state. Mr. Gatens successfully settled the case on behalf of the representative class and obtained significant injunctive and monetary relief for Washington consumers that purchased gift cards from Coinstar that faded and darkened to the point where the purchaser could not redeem their gift cards.
