It's no secret that Washington state faces a stark housing affordability crisis: Per the Washington State Department of Commerce (“Commerce”), the state must add 1.1 million homes over the next 20 years—at least half of which will need to be affordable for residents at the lowest income levels—and over 90,000 emergency housing beds just to keep pace with the state’s expected population growth.
